2007 Sunrise Bass Masters Youth Fishing Day

The 19th Annual Sunrise Bassmaster Fishing Tournament to Benefit Youth raised over $1200 to benefit YSB programs benefiting Lakes Area youth and families. The check was presented to YSB staff member Pam Trudeau, Youth Fishing Day winners, Trevor and Tyler Peterfeso, and Youth Advisory Board members Liana Johnson and Shylo Stevens.

Members of the Sunrise Bassmasters and eleven youth netted nearly 25 pounds of bass from Forest Lake in just under four hours during the third annual Youth Fishing Day on Sepember 29.

Tyler Peterfeso caught the Big Bass of the day, weighing 2.73 lbs.,

but his younger brother, Trevor, edged him slightly for the tournament with a three-bass-total weight of 6.27 lbs.

Evan Finley came in third for the tournament with a three-fish total weight of 4.57 lbs.

North Branch Senior Girl Scouts Katie Sausen and Kim Humble recently presented YSB with Star Jeannie bags they made as part of their Gold Award Project. The bags, filled with interesting items to cheer young hearts, will be distributed to youth participating in YSB programs.

Running Aces Harness Park welcomed YSB to two pre-opening day receptions on April 4 and 5, raising over $4,000 for YSB programs. Over 11,000 pounds of old electronics were dropped off at an E-Cycling Event sponsored by Ace Hardware and collaborating partner E-Cycling Solutions on Saturday, April 19. Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau and Community Helping Hand each received a check for $725.00 as a result of the fund raiser. El Ewert

El Ewert presented Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau with a check for $250 realized from proceeds of his recently released CD, "The Classics Songs of El Ewert."

Lakes Area YSB recently benefited from the “Be What’s Possible!”promotion sponsored by GAP and Old Navy stores located in the North Branch Tanger Outlets. During the first two weeks of March, GAP and Old Navy customers were given an opportunity to take advantage of a 10% discount off their purchase if they pledged support to YSB.

Patriot Bank

Patriot Bank Minnesota President John Milbauer recently presented a $1000 contribution for the Partners for the Future Permanent Fund to board chair-elect Kathy Lillis and Executive Director Jeanne Walz. Contributions to the Partners for the Future Fund are being matched dollar-for-dollar to a total of $30,000 through November of 2009 by the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation. Forest Lake Mayor, Stev Stegner (third from left) is receiving a lot of encouragement to make his goal from YSB staff members Pam Trudeau, Matt Howard, Carrie Dobie and Sarah Bierschwale. Mayor Stegner has pledged $10 to YSB for every pound lost in the 16 week, “Knock Out the Pounds” promotion sponsored by Press Publications.

The Feeling is Mutual! Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau recently welcomed Forest Lake Sons of the American Legion Post 225 as a new Sustaining Member of YSB’s $1000 Plus Club. Forest Lake Ford owner John Berken recently accepted a plaque recognizing the dealership as a Sustaining Member of YSB's $1,000 Plus Club. Sustaining Members are businesses, civic organizations and individuals making annual gifts in an amount equal to or greater than $1,000 in a calendar year. First State Bank of Wyoming

YSB was selected to benefit from 1st State Bank of Wyoming's "Jeans Day" on January 19, 2007. The promotion raised $140 in support of YSB programs.

Target partners with YSB to ensure the success of youth and families

Target is partnering with Youth Service Bureau through a $1,000 grant supporting Parenting, Counseling and Prevention Education Programs. The award was provided from Target's Family Violence Prevention Focus fund. Store manager Daren Muscha and members of Forest Lake Target's staff were recently presented with a $1,000 Plus Club Sustaining Member plaque in recognition of ongoing support.
