Bassmasters

bassmasters

Once again, the Sunrise Bassmasters hosted a Youth Fishing Day for area youth on September 27, 2008. Youth went out in pairs with Bassmasters in their boats and had a great time fishing for the biggest catch! This is a free activity for youth. The Bassmasters do this every fall, followed by an adult tournament which raised over $1,000 for LAYSB in 2008.

Donations

North Branch Senior Girl Scouts Katie Sausen and Kim Humble recently presented LAYSB with Star Jeannie bags they made as part of their Gold Award Project. The bags, filled with interesting items to cheer young hearts, will be distributed to youth participating in LAYSB programs.

silver lining quilt

Silver Lane Quilting, of Forest Lake, raffled a beautiful Christmas Quilt with all proceeds donated to LAYSB. The quilt was cut and sewn by Doug Leko, age 15, a freshman at Blaine High School. The fabrics were donated by his mother Elaine, owner of Silver Lane Quilting, and the final machine quilting was donated by Jane Fisk from Journey Quilting in North Branch. LAYSB staff member Jackie Kottke receives a check from Doug for $275 raised in proceeds from the raffle.

Rod Williams and Rita Pietruszewsk, of Wyoming United Methodist Church, presented checks to Jeanne Walz (far left) of LAYSB, and Shellene Johnson (2nd from right) of the Refuge Network. Proceeds were generated from WUMC’s annual fall turkey dinner. LAYSB and the Refuge Network were chosen to split the $4,362 in order to carry on their missions of serving families.
